That is allot! Especially for that size. How much are Burundi in that shop? If I am not mistaken Australia has pretty much only Kigoma and Burundi types, so it may be a rare find in your country.

I agree with me thats alot, I never really checked what they go for in your area. I don't know your experience with Fronts so first thing is can you tell the different variants? If not take pictures and ask so you dont get something like a burundi or poor quality Front. I assume for that price you at least getting an F1 and the LFS should have information about the breeder. I would also try to find a local breeder in your area or surrounding areas be cause for that price a little bit of gas is worth the drive. Many if not all LFS are in general very high compared to a local breeder and if you can find one than you might be better off. Maybe some other mates on the forum will be able to help you with finding them cheaper and good quality.

That's way over priced! They are definitely not worth that much at that size. Hunt around and you will find some at a good price. Look around on the local forums and you will find some... just be patient.

Well heres my take on it.
If Mpimbwe are not readliy available in Austarlia, then the price is appropriate.
Supply/Demand......dont forget about that.
I dont agree with the high price, however, thats why you are seeing that,
here in Florida especially, the price is much lower and because there are many breeders here and competion is greater.
If you cannot buy them and ship them into Australia, then you have to pay that price and if you can get them to breed, then you could charge more too, but I suspect you would be much more reasonable.
Thats why you see that price, if I could ship to your country, I would make a fortune by under charging that shop, and everyone would buy form me.
That shop is just trying to capitalize on the lack of Frontosa varients in Australia.

Nick, you can start by studying the variant profiles here at the top left of the page. I do that to notice the differences of the collection points.
Also, go through the threads here on identification as other keepers here post their fish and you can start to see some identifying features.
Other posters here may have some more ideas for you too.
