Maybe it:s time for a new monthly photo contest with no prizes, or maybe just the winners pic as th monthly banner on the site would be the prize? It would be nice to see more pics on this site once again.

All I would say is we need to make it easy (user friendly) to post the picture. At least a step by step of how to post it. :)

I am sure it would progress. Maybe just a few people the first time, but still I am sure we would see some nice photo's. I would post something, but all I have are discus at the moment. Maybe I can just call them high bodied Zaire?

I am not sure if it is what JRD is referring to, but it is a bit of a pain not being able to post pics directly from your PC. I used to use photo bucket and image shack allot, but these days they have too many adds, and what not.

i'm on board. it might spark some interest. does it have to be frontosa specific or just beautiful fish. i'd love to see me's discus pics although i know this is a frontosa site, but we could do a couple categories. like a cyphotilapia category and an open category. just a thought.

Here's a pic of one of my pairs. These are called Flora Heckel's. Heckel's are a wild strain known for their prominent center stripe, which is much thicker than most discus stripes, and pretty much always present. Most discus only show stripes during stress, or excitement. Heckel's are nearly impossible to breed as the females just don't play ball in captivity (very very few documented cases of success). The males however are not as picky, so the next best thing is what we frontosa keepers avoid like the plague... Hybridization with a male Heckel, and female of a captive strain. However often the prominent stripe does not appear on the resulting fry, or only on X percent. However in Asia they seem to have cracked the code at least for F1 fry. It is said that F2 don't usually retain the stripes (by US and European breeders who have never had the Flora Heckels), so I am very curious to see the results with this pair. they are proving a bit difficult and only spawn a few times a year, but the male was not eating enough and wasting the first year. I have gotten him eating like a pig now, and things look good. Heckels btw are typically small. These are crossed with Giant Flora altum's and so they are over 7 inches each. pretty big for any discus strain.
