Hey all!

I have a pretty funny story about one of my common plecos. A few months ago I was switching all my fish from my 90 gallon to my 265 gallon. I put all my fronts and clown loaches together in a 40 gallon tub with air pumps. Then I put all my plecos in a small 10 gallon tub. Well, I had alot of cleaning and moving of all the gravel/decorations/etc...SO, it took awhile...all the fish were probably hanging out in their temporary tubs for a few hours. I would check on them everytime I walked by from one tank to the other and everyone was doing great.

Well, one time I was at the sink draining some water and I looked over and saw something quite interesting. My largest common pleco (14") decided he didn't like the tub very much. But he didn't jump straight out like you'd think he would. He jumped up on the side of the tub and grabbed a hold of the edge with one of his very long (and very hard) side fins. He then raised up his other fin and grabbed on with that fin as well. Then he wiggled/jumped his wayover the edge, landed on his belly and started wiggling on my floor. I know these things can be out of water for a little while and I kinda wanted to see what he would do (don't worry, he was only out for like 10 seconds). Well not only was he moving surprisingly fast, but he was moving straight for the door, haha. I let him move for a little bit and he kept a straight line for the door. So before he got away, haha, I grabbed him and put him back in the tub. Well 10 minutes later, the exact same thing happens...one fin...two fin...hop...crawl to door...it was hilarious! I was laughing so hard. So after the second escape attempt, I placed a towel over the top of the tub and had no more problems, haha. The way he did it with the fins was interesting...almost like what a person would do if he couldn't jump straight over something.

Ayway, I just wanted to share this story with you guys and hope it makes you laugh and your day a little brighter, haha. Take care!

Marc

Haha, he was being a rebellious little guy, but I wasn't having any of it! Those plecos are quite solid! They're armored to the core! When I picked him up I could feel how rugged they're built.

They are quite a bit funny. I have one who always was moving across a glass divider in my temp tank! Although, I had reduced the water level lower than the divider's top, but he was always on trip! haha. The other one was learned to feed from water surface up side down.

I'm sorry but that is just such a funny thought in my head... to see him trying to get out to the door with his tiny little legs (I mean fins)
