Ok, so I'm sure alot of you already know this...but plecos absolutely LOVE cucumbers!

I started trying it a couple weeks ago. I cut up the cucumbers into slices, put some fishing line through the slice and put a fishing weight on the line and the plecos go insane for it! After the slices are in there for awhile, there is a swarm of plecos around them. It takes them a little while to realize that it's food and to be comfortable with it, but once they taste it, they're hooked! They eat it right to the green skin. They end up looking like green onion rings. I thought it was pretty sweet...so I've been feeding them slices quite a bit lately...you just have to remember not to leave them in too long...but if your plecos like the stuff like mine do there won't be anything but green skin left after a short time. I've been putting them in when I go to bed and taking them out when I get up.

It's pretty cool to watch, and cucumbers have ALOT of good stuff packed in them so it's a great, healthy treat for them that they thoroughly enjoy!

Marc

They also love zucchini. I just cut them in 1/2. Then weigh them down with forks and they go nuts over it. They even eat the shin on the zucchini.

Hey all,

Here is a video of my plecos and clown loahes going crazy over a cucumber slice...Also has a couple close ups of my Burundis. At about 3:44, my little albino bushynose attacks my huge common pleco and sends him running from the cucumber...they don't mess around when it comes to cucumbers, haha

No problem! I think it's pretty cool that they like them that much. I always like finding new weird things that my fish like to eat. I'm sure they enjoy the variety as well!

I found most cichlids like the florrets on brocoli, but a bit of warning fibers from brocoli can jam impellers in powerheads and what not.

Try banana, as well. My Malawi Cichlids like it. Plecos really love lettuce, though.

I know, haha...the big one was trying to slowly push the little guy off of it...but the little guy wasn't having any of it. It looked like the little one was sucking on his eye to get him to go away, lol
