Love the pics!

Some clowns came with a used tank I just purchased. I'm excited to throw them in with my Kaps. I think their hyper personality contrast nicely with the Tangs in the tank.

Do loaches need to be acclimated to the higher PH? What is the best way to do this?

Also, which loach is your fav in terms of personality?

Clown loaches are neat... but they like to play dead some times! I swear they take naps!

Adjusting to higher PH would be in a small tank with original water and slowly adding water from the tank its going into over a span of a few days.

My favorite personality in a loach is the dojo loach, they are so fun and bizarre, mine likes to drape himself in plants and bury himself in the sand. He also likes to make laps about the tank daily, he just goes around and around for a good 20 minutes.

It's surprising how many front keepers keep clown loaches with their fronts. I have always kept clown loaches in high temps in the high 80's to prevent ich. Now I'm going to kick myself for passing on a great deal of 6.5" clown loaches for $15 each.

Some people are afraid to keep them with Fronts because of the switch blade the loach has, but I have always had some and the majority of time with Fronts.

What do you guys do when introducing your Clown Loaches in with your Front's to stop the clown loaches getting Ich (WHite Spot)?
If they do happen to get Ich what do you do then?

Cheers Tom

Hey Tom,

I was wondering the same thing with introducing some new fish to my aquarium, and a guy at a lfs gave me a cool way to do it. You put the new fish in a bucket with the water that he was in from the store or wherever you got it from. Then you syphon water through an airline tube from the tank into that bucket...then tie a knot near the end of the airline tubing...pull the knot tight until there is a slow drip going into the bucket...this allows the new fish to be very slowly transitioned to the new water situation, and it won't shock his system and will lessen the possibility of illnesses caused by the shock. Hope this helps!

Marc
