I have an eight inch L021 Pleco ( sold in most LFS as chocolate pleco ... or just pleco) ... in the tank he is in now ... I rarely see him he stays in his castle ( i have him in my angel tank which has a large castle ornament which my red-fin shark, pleco and Spotted cat all live in with no problem) the Pleco will eventually reach 13 or 14 inches ... but remember the colony i am receiving are all between 7 and 11 inches ... i did not know if they might try to eat him... i am sure he will hide as he normally does... if he did on the off chance get eaten will he cause aproblem internally like a loach would ... what is you all's thoughts .. i really wanted to put a scarlet pleco in there but i know i can't put a 2 or 3 inch anything in with these WC Mpimbwes

Thanks
Rev

Hi there !

I have always had BN Plecos with my earlier fronts ( though I have just the plecos now and no fronts...lol ) but never had any problems with mixing them...

I have a full grown BN in with Adult fronts and no issues so far although there was a thread on here once where a BN got stuck in a fronts throat and nearly killed the front.

I just added two BN to the front tant this am. Other than curious fronts poking at them a bit, no problems so far. I also have an L134 in there but it is currently fighting with a matted pair of Kribs. Fronts don't seem to care too much.

I'd grow him a little bigger first if I were you. 3" is small.

Completely Agree ! I guess he will be a lot safer with the 10" fronts, if he is a little bigger...

many things can be done for a certain period of time.

for a time you can keep red devils with frontosa.
for a time you can not do water changes and not lose fish.
for a time a thug will treat your daughter well.

things work OK for now, or short time in future, but depends what you want to risk.

frontosa eat fish.
frontosa are not smart.
frontosa will mouth anything small enough to fit in its mouth.

maybe you want to risk the death of your other fish?
maybe you want to risk your frontosa choking to death on a loach, catfish, pleco etc.

i'd not keep a pleco smaller than 7-8 inches with adult frontosa.

ever try to get a loach with barbs, a catfish with spines or a pleco with spiny odontodes out of a frontosa throat?
best bet is to get a bottom feeder that is too big for a stupid frontosa to try and eat.

I get that tr6 ... that is why my original question was about my L021 which if you notice in my first post on this thread says that he is 8 inches... but i do understand what you are saying that is what i thought ans that is why i asked this forum... your post reminds of the posts i would get on the forum i left...i do not appreciate being talked down to and if that was not your intention my apologies .... it sure sounds like it from your post

your second post was this

Revrend";p="29410 wrote:

and that is what i answered to.

many things can be done for a time, many things can be tried.
they can work for a time, but many times will often lead to death of a fish needlessly.

I often am very direct and give severe illustrations so people will get the point, sugar coating is not my thing.

Sorry you feel like people talk down to you at other sites, certainly not my intention here.
I apologize for that.

You should listen to what TR6 has to say. He is very knowledgeable. There is a risk in putting a pleco that size with your big fronts. Might have to get a second tank and grow out your plecos if you can't find any that are already big. Good luck.

You can also order some large plecos online too. Just a thought. Here is a website that has some large plecos. Hope that helps.
