Zebra prices have dropped big time past month.
A 2.5 inch "WC" fish is running about 160, when a few months ago the norm was 300, and 500 for confirmed breeders over 3 inches.

I have not quite figured this out.
There is a seller who has brought in 400.
With the export restriction, i seriously doubt this person is bringing in true wilds.
My guess is they are being hormone bred in Colombia or elsewhere, then powergrown to size.
Its just not that easy to catch 400 Zebra, even if some Brazilian official was getting paid off.

At any rate, the price has dropped.
It may be that the Zebra will be our most common Hypancistrus if the owners of those 400 "WC" get them breeding soon.

I have noticed people also selling their colonies lately.
Either to unload the juvies they are growing out, and overpaid for in exchange for some of the bigger and cheaper 400, or to unload before the zebra bubble bursts.

I'm not sure how the price will go later on down the line.
I do imagine that many will actually have success in breeding, thus bringing the price of fry down from a high of 275 to 125 and about 75 in in the near future.
I think the sub adults will also come down a bit in the next 6 months to maybe 125.

Thanks Big Jim & tr6.

The guy i bought them from told me to feed them red mosquito larva.
I was alway's told it's bad to feed those?

I do feed white mosquito larva to my fronts.
It's their favourite food.

some people don't feed mosquito larvae because they can carry parasites.

Thanks tr6.
Helpfull as usual.

I have so many questions about my l 333.
Like why do they defecate so much
I've got 5 now and got them in a bare bottom tank.
I have to do a waterchange every day.
Not that i mind chanching water but i want to give them some rest.

I dont think i feed them to much but it's hard to tell.
They feed when the lights are off and the tablets desolve after a few hours.
I give tem two tablets a day (broken in two).

As this is a frontosa site i guess it would be wise to try and find answers on the pleco forums.

Thanks (again).

What are you feeding them?
they are not plant eaters, so don't feed them algae wafers regularly.

They don't process the cellulose very well, so it goes right thru them.

L333 are hypancistrus, and they need a more meat based diet. Feed them whatever sinking food you feed your cichlids.

I feed them the "meaty"wafers, several kinds.
Also hikari sinking wafers, they like those.
I also got some (drift)wood in there
Sometimes they get frozenfoods

Strarting to think i'm better off with a tank with plants.
But then again i would only be fooling myself, it will still be there i just wouldn't see it anymore.

http://www.aquabid.com/cgi-bin/auction/ ... 1259421460

11 queen fry for $400!!!!!!!
They have not even hit the reserve yet.

The last queen batch went 6 fry for $451, and they were a tad bigger.

This group should hit about $600-700.

not alot of fry hit that price on aquabid, other than zebra pleco fry.
remember when Moba would make that kind of money????

L 025 seems to be the one to get over here.
If you can breed them you really could make some money..

Well, well, well. Up until I read this post I thought a pleco was just a pleco! What's with the L numbers?

Anyway, done some research and it seems that these things are impossible to get in South Africa. The only one I managed to track down is a Golden Nugget (L018, L081, L085, L177). Is that rare?

Any info on the Golden Nugget would be appreciated, i.e. can keep it with my Fronts? Do they breed?
