Ok thanks.Just worrying about everything since the two deaths I had with them.So I take it at some point their correct color will come back? What about this odd long stripe is that part of it?Have juveniles been known to kill each other in these fights?

Do you have a photo of this horizontal stripe?

I have not know juveniles to kill each other. Usually it is the adult males that will kill each other.

When this fish turns gray or has gray stripes and pale the stripe is almost red in color. It is the stripe/blur between his/her normal stripes. Its not bad now but most of the time this fish is pale with light gray stripes and a near red horizontal stripe. What do you think?

I think Allen is right they are setting a pecking order. Are all of the fish 1.5 inches? How many now do you have in the tank? What size did you say the tank is? I hope things are starting to calm down.

It is a 72 gallon bow front.I have 5 1.5 inch Frontosa and 3 2 inch clown loaches in it.I will have a 125 gallon before they reachase a year old and may be adding 2 more 1.5 inch fronts soon as the place I bought them from said they would send two more when they get a new batch soon. They are all doing and acting great...eating Omega One flake...I tried tiny Omega one pellets but they wouldn't touch the floaters or sinkers so sticking with flake and then giving brine shrimp (thawed from frozen) once a week.

I checked your pics and they seem fine to me. Don't get hung up on the horizontal bar.

Thanks for everything. They seem good to.I use a blue light moonlight most of the day then switch on the main lights to look at them awhile but they do get their darkness as well...they seem to like it that way.

glad things are starting to calm down and there have been no more deaths. the guys are right about the chasing. they're just sorting out the pecking order. the dominant fish will show the boldest colors during this time. the horizontal stripe is called the lateral line. you won't even see it when they put a little size on. nothing to worry about. the fish in the pics looks healthy to me. hope things keep going good for you from here on out.
