Hello,

I am new to this forum, and I joined with hopes that someone would be able to help me identify my Front/Gibb. The fish is approximately 4" in length, and it was sold to me as a Frontosa; however, the rep at the fish store didn't know what type it was. I've noticed that it has these beautiful hues of blue that run all the way to the tips of its fins. I took the liberty of capturing some close-up snap shots of the fish, so that you all may have a good look at it. Hopefully some one will be able to ID this beautiful Front/Gibb for me. I plan to dedicate myself to keeping and breeding just Frontosa/Gibbs (particularly Tembwe Zaires), so if this ends up being a Zaire, I will be very pleased. Thanks in advance to anyone that helps!

***Please see my "Personal Album" for 20+ photos of this specific fish.***

I'm very sorry. I am new to using forums, and I just figured out how to get my pics up. You can go into my personal album. There you will find 20+ pics of the Frontosa/Gibb in question.

Thanks so much for your replies!

Wow, I didn't know Burundi displayed such brilliance in their blues. If you take a look at all the images I uploaded, you'll be able to see how intense they get in some pics. Thanks, I agree: it is a very nice "Burundi," indeed. How were you able to identify it as a Burundi? I plan to bring in a small breeding group of 1 male and 3 female Zaire: should I sell this Frontosa and restrict the aquarium to Zaire? Also, I have six beautiful Birchardi in there right now and I plan to add six Aulonocara (3 pairs) to compliment the Zaire group: Is this advisable?

Thanks!

That first pic is a really nice Burundi!

I'd like to see a couple more pictures of the fish in that 2nd image.

Hi,

All the photos in my "personal album," and both of the photos I've posted, are of the same fish; it changes intensity like if it were glowing, but most of the time, it's a really intense blue like in the second photo.

-Thanks for looking!
