Sold off my wild kilesa a couple months ago. They decided to leave me with a gift before shipping them off. This mom gave my 33 fry from one brood!!!

few pics of a group of F1 kilesa fry (I guess I should call them juvies) before shipping them off a couple months ago. Some where close to three inches. I was pretty surprised when one of the males started digging his pit and displaying

Very nice Russ. Also wondering what size tank they need. I may get some soon.

I had my wild group in a 72 gallon bow front tank. Bigger is better as you can get multiple males displaying at the same time. My next batch of kilesa try will be ready to ship in September.

I did some tank re-arranging this week: I moved the current batch of kilesa fry from the 20 long into the 72 gallon bow front tank with the callo juvies. I was very surprised when I measured some of the kilesa fry: 1.5"! This batch started with 33 wigglers when I stripped them and 31 of them have survived  I am very pleased with the survival rate of that group. They are in with 26 callo juvies that are about 3"

I did take the FX5 on the 72 gallon tank out service in favor of two AC110s - I just do not like maintaining a canister filter  For me and my routine, I think the AC110s are so much easier and quicker to maintain. I set up the 72 for photography - I plan to start shooting again.

I am now down to 4 tanks down from 8 a few months ago :party I have a altolamp fry tank with about 100 to 150 calvus bcwp & muzi gold heads. Once I sell all of the fry in these two tanks (probably in early Fall), I will be down to two tanks

Is it just me or is it hard to get motivated to do fish tank maintenance in the middle of summer when the sun is shinning and the lake is calling your name?

Have a happy and a safe fourth of July you all!

Blessings,
Russ

Lol, yes. Now a days they don't even bother lighting them, they simply drop them from airplanes.
