Hello fellow front keepers , I finally have had the time to get back to care to my tank and get everything where it needs to be. Currently I have a 150 gallon tank with 9 Moba Blue Zaire fronts. Just over a year now started with 10 one ended up jumping out. My main issue is do I have too many for this tank this will be their tank that they will grow to an adult in. Below are some pictures of my Aquascape and the fish themselves. The two biggest ones or I would say about 6 inches they fight very often and they're very battered in the face and thefins are nipped . However all the smaller fish of the fry are beautiful no cuts or any nipping of the fins. I'm also starting to do 25% water change each week to try and progress growth I feed them twice a day New Life Spectrum sinking pellets as they won't eat floating . I'm going to make a separate post on re aquascaping the tank with hiding spots and much more appealing look with rocks and a black background to bring out the color of them. I appreciate anyone reading this posts, and hope someone can help me sort out this fighting issue and tell me if 9 in 150 gallon tank is too much. I almost feel like I should separate one of the big ones but then again it will just be another fish getting picked on. Also need to figure out how to tell male and female apart so I can have a successful adult tank that will all get along happy. Thanks again and I gratefully appreciate any tips and advice.

welcome aboard. sounds like things are starting to get interesting in your tank. typically for a tank the size of yours 8 fronts is roughly what to shoot for. sometimes you can get away with an extra or 2 depending on your group. by the sounds of things that may not be the case for your group. i'm guessing you have 2 rival males going to battle for the right of being alpha in the pecking order. without venting the fish to determine their sex we won't know for certain though. here's a link to another thread which will show you how to vent them properly. viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1355. feel free to post pics of the vent area of your fish if you need help or a second opinion. we're here to help. keep in mind that a fish needs to be about 5 or 6 inches to accurately vent them. if you're fish have been fighting are causing damage to each other it might be wise to intervene and re home one of them. however if this is a recent development you may want to keep a close eye on them and see if they sort things out themselves. keep us posted.

Show me a cichlid that isn't hungry, and I'll show you a cichlid that isn't healthy.
