quick question guys. do you use air stones in your hydro sponges? thus far i have not but i recently read that using an air stone increases the efficiency of the filter by drawing air through the entire sponge rather than just the top half. is this true? do u use them? thanks.

iandraco all I have is the air line hooked to the filter. Seems to work well. I have to say I never have used hydro sponges until just lately. I like them so far. I have five tanks running them with HOB filters.

I run hydro sponge pros in all my tanks and I don't use air stones. I tried them once, but it was a hassle. And mine collect PLENTY of waste without air stones, lol.

thanks for the responses guys. i didn't wind up adding air stones but i did add a short piece of airline tube down to the base of the sponge. my sponges collected plenty of waste before. we'll see if they collect more now or not. i figured it was worth a shot.
