I've never used the powders, and have never talked to anyone who has either. You got experience with it? That'd be great

I have been using an Omni filter when I add any water to my tanks. I haven't used a declor in about 3 years. The Omni filter has a carbon filter in the center that takes out the chlorine, I haven't had any problems. It cost about $40.00 and the refill carbon center cost about $5-6.00 and I change it about every 4 months or so.

Thanks
Joe

No problems with clumping, or not getting a good disbursement? Do the fish try to eat? Do you mix it in a bucket first, then add to the tank?

No clumping. No premixing.
I just wing it.

Just take a tiny scoop out and pour it into the water going back in the tank.

I only use it with my Cyps, Calvus and Comps.
All other fish are hardy enough that they don't need it.

You don't worry about a spike, or a treatment from the water facility, causing problems?
I guess I am just scared... I treat all my tanks at every water change. Which is why I originally started this thread-buying prime in 8.5oz amounts just costs too much. I was thinking about moving up to the 2L or 4L amounts, but then thought maybe there was a good substitute..

Nope, never worry about it.

I will get further into this on another thread, but the stuff isn't needed for the majority of fish IMO.
I only use it with the fish I listed because they get stressed easier and the water change in general effects them.
I've found the temp change is what bothers them most. I have to try to have the temp right on.

I think it's an additional unnecessary expense, just like alot of meds.

Alot of problems can get taken care of with regular salt without iodine.

I have been using prime for a long time, it is a excellent product, and it really does one thing and does it well, remove chlorine. Those of you that truly have very safe water, can do larger water changes then the 20-30% rule. I am lucky to live in a state that has under a million total pop. Wide open spaces, you bet! But I have to import ALL my fishes, and supplies. But it a fair trade-off. The best sweet- corn I ever tasted was in NE area. Not to mention Lobster!!! That I miss!

I use Aquaclear. I usually buy a gallon jug for around $30. When I do a 25% water change I add about 5oz of AC to rid the chlorine. The jug lasts me about a month or two.

I don't use anything but good old fashion well water, so no water conditioners here. But I used to use Prime and the Hagen AquaPlus. Prime is the best, but chlramax works well also.
