Hi all! Just passed the one year mark with my Mobas. After loosing one fish in the first week , all seven remaining are doing great. Although these guys grow painfully slowly, one fish has apparently claimed the roll as boss. He has started to clearly develop his nuchal hump and claimed a large cave as his own. Absolutly no aggression yet. That said here is my question. The pool filter sand substrate is proving very difficult to keep clean. I do twice a week 40 gallon water changes and vac the sand. It isnt only detritus, but some type of algae on the sand as well. Since I do vaccum, I have removed a lot of the sand in the process and am approaching the point where I will need to add more. Should I switch to a crushed coral? This may be easier to maintain? Should I stick with the pool filter sand and deal with it?
