Hi all
Wish you all a very happy and prosperous new year
I have a 7 foot aquarium which was a south american for around 7 years but then started to loose fish due to age.Instead of continuing with the theme decided to give it a complete makeover.I was very keen not to use wood in it as the tank always had tons of it.
While giving it a long and hard though i decided to keep Frontosas/Gibberosas..one fish that i have always wanted to keep but never had the chance to.So here goes.let me know what you all think of it.

Thanks

Thank you for the kind words
these were sold to me as mpimbwe
I plan to add another 6 more to increase the size of my colony to 14.I have about 8 now from various sizes of 2 inch to 4 inch
I have massive filtration on the tank and feeding them with nls and plan to start feeding them some shrimp or other white meat. am I on the right track?

you could add 6 more and then when they are of a size to determine their gender weed out some of the males to a group of 10-12. 14 may be too many for a 180. then again if you have a peaceful group maybe it would be fine with 14. time will tell on that one. what kind of food are you feeding them?

I was feeding them NLS Thera A pellets and they were reluctantly accepting it
But i switched to some fresh shrimp and they went absolutely bonkers! They would just not stop eating.
Would it be a problem if it is made their staple diet. What other white meat can i feed them

you can feed them shrimp as long as it's salt water shrimp. fresh water shrimp may carry parasites that could be harmful to your fish. same goes for fish meat. always try to get saltwater seafood if possible. you might try coating it with a little spirulina powder for some extra nutrients. then freeze it so it sticks. it will thaw once it's in the water for a few seconds. NLS is a great food too, but sometimes it takes a while for them to get used to it. you could try crushing some of the pellets and rolling the shrimp in it to try to coax them into eating it. worth a shot.
