I wasn't aware you had multiples. Just out of curiosity which ones are you trying to sell?

Whats your DV cam?

they don't make housings for all handycams, and there are thousands of handycams, only a few types of housings.

I have 4 different housings.

pretty much got to buy a housing first, then search out the camera.
if you buy camera first, most likely no housing made for it.

more.
yep florida.
i have a video of a fish from madagascar spawning called the Lamena.
quite a feather in my cap, few have seen it breed in person, and i believe i'm the only one to ever have swam with them and have underwater footage of them spawning, though its crappy because its murky.

Hey TR, sorry I missed that one I guess.

My DV is a Panasonic PV GS-32 It's a bit older, but I like it, and it's a fairly common frame shared with allot of their other models. I have seen housings for it, but haven't looked for awhile. Probably should get one before they get impossible to find. I was planning on getting an HD camera last year though so thought I would've sold it or gifted it to a family member by now, but then the economy went boom! So I will keep my little gismo for now. Great all around camera. Not perfect, but what is.

keep your older video camera.
find a housing for it.

yeah, the newer cameras are great, but here is the problem.

Old or New, housings flood.
And you are SOL.
The company is not going to give you money for your fried housing.

So yeah, i want a brand new HD hard drive video camera, but i would not put it in a housing.

I tell people, find themself a quality old school video camera that you can find for less then $100.
hopefully it has a housing specific for it, or one that can be altered.
If it floods, you don't lose a whole lot.
I have a very basic old school vid cam, no LCD nothing.
$25 for it, and its a type that they actually repair. So i bought 2 of them.
alot of video cams, there are no parts for.
And vid cam quality seems bad, they break alot.

but if you buy a new video cam, which actually are not all that pricey, you lose more money.

same thing with cameras.
no way i'd put a $1000 new DSLR in a housing.
Just find a pretty good $200 DSLR, or $50 point and shoot digital.

big difference at least to me, losing $50-$200 vs. $1000 plus.

when i go to Africa, i'm only taking camera housing anyway.
they do 3 minute clips, thats pretty much enough.
don't need to lug around another housing for the video cam.

I have a Canon 40D dslr and would not risk putting it in a $200 housing. I have a nice point and shoot that I do have a housing for it and it works nice. But ya I agree I wouldn't risk it with a nice camera.

A housing for your 40D can cost about $1500.
you can also alter a used housing to fit, and find them for much less.

However, new housings and old housings flood.
paying more does not get your camera back.

I tell people, if you can't afford to lose the camera, don't take it underwater, just find a cheap digi cam either with a housing, or alter a housing.

you can find some really good point and shoot used digital cams for $40.
